Who We Are
The volunteers and staff involved in the Learning Club are dedicated to helping children succeed, in school and in life! We are grateful for the contributions of each person involved in our work. Please consider joining us!
Staff
Our staff has more than 100 years of combined experience in the classroom, mostly in the urban core of Kansas City. Learn more about our staff members.
Volunteers
Volunteer as a tutor one hour a week or lead an enrichment program of your choosing. Volunteers have been the foundation of the Learning Club since we began in 2002. Currently, we have about 120 volunteer tutors/mentors who work with our children usually one-on-one. They come from all walks of life, ranging from young professionals who help after work, to retired teachers, to adults who live in the neighborhoods where we serve. Besides the relationships that volunteers build with the students, many enjoy the camaraderie of other tutors, joining carpools and forming lasting friendships.
Please contact Brad Grabs at 913-244-5838 or bgrabs@learningclubkck.org if you are interested in volunteering.
Students
The Learning Club reaches out to the most disadvantaged children in Kansas City, Kansas, currently serving more than 120 students in 1st to 6th grades. We operate at six sites located in high-poverty areas, so that students who lack transportation and family support can attend. We seek out students who need extra help and support and are not being served by other programs. Five of our sites are located on the premises of public housing projects, where average household income is less $10,000 per year.
